Score engraving

When I’m creating the final version of a score, I always make a list of things that I have to go through and perfect. I customize this list to fit the features of each piece. The example is the the list I made for my Five Character Pieces for Piano.

I’ve found that this method speeds up the process of score editing, and decreases the amount of mistakes in the final product. This also makes the process of editing more engaging; instead of repeatedly glancing over your score and fixing anything you happen to see, you can follow the staff through the entire score with one object or feature in mind, fix those mistakes, and then repeat with the next bullet point on your list.

I will continue to use this method when I edit my scores. I’m currently in the process of editing every piece on my website. All of my piano pieces are finished so all I have left are my solo marimba pieces and chamber works.

Have a Happy New Year!
